14 Mar Thimphu – Punakha/Wangdue Sightseeing– (Distance: 77 kms. / Driving Time: 3 hrs. / Altitude of Phuentsholing: 1310 mts.) After breakfast drive to Punakha / Wangdue, On the way Stop at Dochu-La-Pass (3150 mts.). to view the higher Himalayas. Arrival at Punakha (4298 ft.) check in at hotel. After noon visit Punakha Dzong – built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. For many years until the time of the second king, it served as the seat of the Government. The Dzong was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness). Punakha is still the winter residence of Je-Khenpo and King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck convened the first National Assembly here in 1952. 15 Mar Excursion to Gangtey (Phobjikha) OR Punakha Sightseeing– (Excursion to Gangtey Distance 78 Kms one way / Driving time:3hrs) After breakfast, start for full day excursion trip to Gangtey (9,840 ft.). Gangtey is the home of Black Necked Crane which migrates from the arid plains of Tibet in the north. It is a beautiful valley of Bhutan. You can also visit Gangtey Gompha. Evening return back. Overnight stay at Punakha / Wangdue. Alternatively, instead of going to Gangtey (Phobjikha), you also have an option spending the day in Punakha Valley itself. About Hotel :
Thimphu, being the capital and the most developed city in Bhutan, the hotel infrastructures, facilities and services are comparatively better than those in other places. Places like Paro, Punakha and beyond mostly have resort type and old structure accommodation. Almost all the resorts and hotels in these areas are located away from the main town and scattered throughout the valley. The services and the facilities may not be comparable to those in Thimphu.
Important Facts for Travelers: Entry Permit for Bhutan:- Indian nationals do not require visa to travel in Bhutan. However they require an entry permit which will have to be processed on arrival. They can also avail advance permits online through a registered tour operator in Bhutan. Advance Online Permits – If you are traveling with an Indian Passport (with a minimum validity of 6 months from the date of departure from Bhutan), you can avail advance online permits whereby the holidays, or the long queue (for those traveling via land) does not become a hindrance. An e-Permit Clearance shall be sent to you, you will have to print and carry the letter on your travel to Bhutan. The actual permit will be stamped on your Passport on arrival in production of the e-Permit Clearance. A clear scanned copy of passport (in color) in JPEG or PDF format and the flight details is required to process the online permits. Please note that the permit gets rejected if the Scanned copies of the passports do not meet the standards. Online permits require the use of TCB certified hotels, Bhutanese vehicle and certified Bhutanese guide. Proper travel documents shall be required at least 10 workings days prior to the date of travel. We shall not be responsible for any rejections or similar issues in regards to the permits due to improper documents or delay in arrival of documents. Bhutan Travel Permits on arrival – Entry permit will be issued at the entry point on production of Indian passport (with a minimum validity of 6 months from the date of departure from Bhutan) or Indian Voter ID. In case of Children, original Birth certificate in English and student ID is required. The traveler is also required to carry photocopy of the travel documents and 04 passport size photographs. The entry permit is valid for travel in Thimphu and Paro only. Special permit is required to travel in Haa, Punakha/Wangdue and beyond. The special permit will have to be processed in Department of Immigrations, Thimphu; in production of the entry permit or the Passport (photocopies are required).
