1st Day – (Friday 21st March) : NJP Railway Station/IXB Airport to Phuentsholing – Pick up
Approx Distance: 157 Km • Est. Travel Time: 5 hours

Meet & Greet on arrival at NJP Railway Station / IXB Airport and transfer to Phuentsholing (961 ft.) – The Gateway of Bhutan by Road from India. It is a thriving commercial centre on the northern edge of the Indian Plains. On arrival check in at the hotel. In the evening, you may choose to relax at the hotel or walk around the Phuentsholing town. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.

2nd Day – (Saturday 22nd March) : Phuentsholing to Paro – Transfer

3rd Day – (Sunday 23rd March) : Paro – Taktshang Monastery Excursion
Approx Distance: 40 Km • Est. Travel Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
After breakfast, drive to the base of the abode of gods and monks, the Taktshang Monastery. The monastery is a 2 -3 hours hike uphill from here. One feels truly blessed reaching the monastery. The primary Lhakhang was built surrounding Guru Rinpoche’s Meditation cave in 1684 which clings to the edge of a sheer Rock cliff that plunges 900 meters into the valley below. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche flew here on the back of a tigress which gives its name “Taktshang” meaning Tiger’s nest. Afternoon (If time permits), visit the Drukgyel Dzong. Built in 1647, the dzong was destroyed by accidental fire and left in ruins as an evocative reminder of the great victories it was built to commemorate. Explore the ramparts and experience an unforgettable view of Mt. Jhomolhari (7,314 m). On the way back, visit Kichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Bhutan. Overnight stay at Paro.

4th Day – (Monday 24th March) : Paro to Punakha/Wangdue – Transfer Via chele la
Est. Travel Time: 9 hours
After breakfast via Chele la pass, drive to Punakha/Wangdue (4298 ft.), on the way Stop at Dochu-La-Pass (10334 ft.) to view the higher Himalayas. The pass is approximately 70 km away from Paro and is the highest point between the Paro and Punakha/Wangdue Valley. Another attraction at Dochu-La Pass is the 108 chorten/stupas (Druk Wangyel Chortens) built close to each other surrounded by numerous colorful prayer flags. Further on the way stop at Lamperi to visit Royal Botanical Park. On arrival in Punakha and check in at the hotel. In the evening, you may choose to relax at the hotel or take a leisure walk around the Valley. Overnight stay at Punakha / Wangdue.

After breakfast visit the Kuenselphodrang (Buddha Dordenma). Located at a short drive from Thimphu City Centre, Kuenselphodrang offers a good overview of the Thimphu valley. The largest statue of Buddha in the country sits here which houses over one hundred thousand smaller Buddha statues. Then visit the National Memorial Chorten built in the memory of the Third King of Bhutan and visit the Folk Heritage Museum. Afternoon visit Sangaygang View Point. The Lookout point offers a stunning panoramic view of the entire Thimphu. On the way back visit the Takin Preserve Centre. Takin is the National animal of Bhutan. Then visit the Changangkha Lhakhang. This is a popular Buddhist temple and is especially visited by parents to receive blessings for their new-born. Its interiors are full of murals that depict different stories. In the evening, visit the Tashichho Dzong, first built in 1216 A.D. by Lama Gyalwa Lhanangpa. Indian nationals do not require visa to travel in Bhutan. Only a valid passport or Voter Id card are the valid documents for obtaining entry permit.

After breakfast drive to Gangtey (Phobjikha) Valley (9,842 ft.). On the way Stop at Dochu-La-Pass (10334 ft.) to view the higher Himalayas. The pass is approximately 25 kms away from Thimphu and is the highest point between the Thimphu and Punakha/Wangdue Valley. Another attraction is the 108 chorten/stupas (Druk Wangyel Chortens) built close to each other surrounded by numerous colourful prayer flags. Drive further to Gangtey. On the way you shall come across different flora and fauna, monuments, villages and people. Stop at places for sightseeing and photography. On arrival check in at the hotel. Later visit the Gangtey Goemba the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan, which was established in the 17th century. Then explore the Phobjikha valley, one of the most beautiful glacial valleys in the Himalayas and the winter roosting place for the endangered Black necked Cranes which migrates from the arid plains of Tibet in the north. You may choose to hike around the Valley. Leisure time in the evening. Overnight stay at Gangtey (Phobjikha).

5th Day – (Tuesday 25th March) : Gangtey/Phobjikha Valley to Bumthang – Sightseeing then Transfer
Approx Distance: 157 Km • Est. Travel Time: 5 hours
After breakfast check out from hotel and then drive to Bumthang (8,530 ft.) across Pele-La-Pass (11,120 ft.), the traditional boundary between East and Western Bhutan. There is an abrupt change in vegetation, with mountain forest replaced by high altitude dwarf bamboo. Further on the way visit the Chendebji Chorten, built in the style of the great Boudhanath Chorten of Nepal. Drive further to Trongsa. While in Trongsa, visit the Trongsa Dzong (7,217 ft.), one of the most impressive dzongs in Bhutan which used to be the seat of power over central and eastern Bhutan. Visit the Ta Dzong, an ancient watch tower which is currently a museum. The chapel inside is said to be dedicated to the Trongsa Penlop Jigme Namgyal. Drive to Bumthang. After passing through cultivated fields for a while, the road re-enters the forest till the Yotongla Pass (11,155 ft.). Then the road ascends to a low point of 2,650 m at Chhumey village. The scenery is once again totally different as the route enters the wide-open Bumthang valley. On the way, visit the Yathra Weaving Factory. Yathra is a hand-woven fabric made from the wool of sheep or Yak and is a famous textile from Bumthang. On arrival check in at the hotel. Overnight stay at Bumthang.

6th Day – (Wednesday 26th March) : Bumthang – Sightseeing
After breakfast, visit Jakar Dzong – Literally meaning the Castle of White Bird. The current structure was built in 1667. Then visit Lamey Goemba – A large palace and monastery built in 18th century by Dasho Phuntsho Wangdi. Post that visit the Jambay Lhakhang, built by King Srongsen Gampo of Tibet. In October one of the most spectacular festival, “Jambay Lhakhang Drub” is staged here. Then proceed to Chakhar Lhakhang, literally meaning the Iron Castle. The original palace was made of Iron and hence the name “Chakhar”. Finally visit the Kurjey Lhakhang, named after body print of Guru Rinpoche. In the afternoon visit the Tamshing Lhakhang, literally meaning the Temple of the good message, established in 1501 by Pema Lingpa. Then drive to Membartsho, literally meaning, “The burning Lake”). Drive back to Hotel. Overnight stay at Bumthang.

7th Day – (Thursday 27th March) : Bumthang to Punakha / Wangdue – Transfer via Gangtey/Phobjikha Valley and Sightseeing
Approx Distance: 240 Km • Est. Travel Time: 8 hours
After breakfast transfer to Punakha/Wangdue (4,298 ft.). En route, visit Gangtey Valley (9,842 ft.). While in Gangtey visit the Gangtey Goemba; the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan, which was established in the 17th century. After that explore the Phobjikha valley, one of the most beautiful glacial valleys in the Himalayas. The valley is also the winter roosting place for the endangered Black Necked Cranes which migrates from the arid plains of Tibet. Towards late afternoon, drive to Punakha. Overnight stay at Punakha/Wangdue.

8th Day – (Friday 28th March) : Punakha/Wangdue to Paro – Transfer and Sightseeing

After breakfast drive to Paro (7,483 ft.). On the way stop at Lamperi to visit Royal Botanical Park. Afternoon visit Ta Dzong – National Museum with an excellent collection of arts, relics, religious thangkha, etc. Then visit the Rinpung Dzong – Meaning “fortress of the heap of jewels”. 10th Day – (Sunday 30th March) : Paro – Chele-La-Pass and Haa Valley Excursion
Approx Distance: 65 Km • Est. Travel Time: 3 hours
After breakfast, drive to Chele-La-Pass (13,088 ft.) – the highest motorable Passes in Bhutan. It is approximately around 2 hrs drive uphill along a densely-populated forest road and beautiful natural sights. Stop at places for photography and for bird watching (if a bird watcher). The Pass is beautifully marked by hundreds of prayers flags and provides stunning views of Mountain Jhomolhari, Jichu Drake and the Haa Valley. Drive further to Haa Valley. While in Haa, visit the 7th century Lhakhang Karpo (White temple) and Lhakhang Nagpo (Black temple) at the foothills of a venerated three brotherly mountains known as Meri Puensum. The grand annual Haa Tshechu is also performed here in the Lhakhang Karpo. Try “Hoentay” the famous culinary delight that is synonymous with Haa which is made from buckwheat flour and filled with spinach, chopped turnips, mushrooms, ginger, chili and butter. Nature lovers will find Haa Valley to be a paradise of beauty as its diversity in flora and fauna is unparalleled. Drive back to Paro. Overnight Stay at Hotel in Paro.

11th Day – (Monday 31st March) : Paro Hotel to Paro Airport – Drop

21 March: Arrival in Bagdogra/NJP to Phuentsholing (4 hrs drive)

After arriving in Phuentsholing, complete the permit formalities and check into the hotel and relax. Phuentsholing– Phuentsholing is the border point for any goods and services entry/exit into Bhutan. Phuentsholing lies opposite to the Indian town of Jaigaon and cross-border trade has resulted in a thriving local economy. Overnight in Phuentsholing, altitude 300m.

22 March: Phuentsholing to Thimphu (5 hrs drive)

Start the scenic journey towards Thimphu. The feeling of exhausted and crowded in Phuentsholing comes to the end after half an hour drive uphill, you will start feeling fresh and enjoy the scenic beauty of the nature. The journey will pass through some of the most beautiful broad leaves forest to temperate alpine zone, villages, towns, water fall, hills and mountains until we reach Thimphu, creating the history for you. Roadside Stops: Leg stretch break for having tea/coffee, using restroom and taking photographs at scenic places like waterfalls, landscapes, and villages. Chuzom- Meeting point of two rivers (Thimphu & Paro) this is tri junction of highway leading to Thimphu, Paro and Phuentsholing into three directions. Enjoy the lovely picture of beautiful portrait of our King and Queen placed at Chuzom which is so welcoming to all who visits Bhutan. We will explore the city by walk: If time permits, walking through the city gives you immense joys and understanding of modern city. 23 March: Thimphu to Punakha (3 hrs)
Start the most scenic drive to Punakha from Thimphu over dochula pass which takes about two hours. After the break at Dochula, the road descends into Wangdue and Punakha taking us to one of the warmest places of Bhutan. Dochula pass: The pass is at a popular location as it offers a stunning 180- degree panoramic view of the Great Himalayan mountain ranges. The view is especially scenic and very clear on winter days with snowcapped mountains forming a majestic backdrop to the tranquility of the 108 chortens gracing the mountain pass. Punakha Dzong: Built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the Dzong was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness).
Punakha is still the winter residence of Je-Khenpo, religious head of Bhutan. King Jigme Dorji
Wangchuck convened the first National Assembly here in 1952. This is one of the finest and must see Dzongs of Bhutan. The Dzong stands in between meeting point of two rivers, Phochu and Mochu making the most photogenic Dzongs of Bhutan. Visit Punakha Suspension Bridge: Punakha suspension bridge is considered one of the longest of its kind in Bhutan. The bridge connects the dzong with the villages Shengana, Samdingkha and Wangkha on the other bank of the Po Chhu river. In these small villages, locals sell their wares in tiny, traditional shops. Visitors can stop here for a quick and authentic view of true Bhutan. In order to access the suspension bridge from the dzong, one must walk past the King’s palace and the cremation ground. 24 March: Punakha to Paro (3 Hrs Drive)
As we proceed to Paro, we will retrace the journey crossing over Dochula, up until Chuzom and further to Paro. The entire stretch of drive will refresh your mind and give you second chance to enjoy the great snowcapped mountain views of the Himalayas from Dochula. After our breakfast, retrace the drive back to Paro via Dochula and Thimphu. En route stop at Lamperi Botanical Park, it is a paradise for nature lover. The visitors can view 38 out of Bhutan’s 46 species of rhododendron or spot some of the 220 species of birds. There are 21 animal species known in the park which has deer, tiger, leopard, red panda and also the wildcat. Paro Airport View Point: It is located on the hill overlooking the airport, this viewpoint offers the best view of the whole airport. Ta Dzong unique (National Museum):
Perched above Paro Dzong it was watchtower built in 1649 to protect the undefended Paro Dzong
located below, renovated in 1968 to house the National Museum. Today this museum houses the best collections of all-time historical items making worth for a visit. Visit 17th century Paro Dzong: ‘Fortress on a Heap of Jewels’, is ranked one of the best Bhutanese architecture. The massive buttressed walls that tower over the town are visible throughout the valley, particularly when landing at Paro Airport.
The Dzong also offers administrative seat of the district of Paro. The Dzong was built in 1644 under the order of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Explore the tiny town: Tiny Paro town actually can offer lot more, there are many authentic handicraft shops, readily available Bhutan made products, grocery and imported garment shops beside having many small restaurants around. 25 March : Paro Sightseeing

This picturesque region in the kingdom is covered in fertile rice fields and has a beautiful, crystalline river meandering down the valley. Paro has more of historical sites, high-end tourist resort and many souvenir shops for shopping including world famous Taktsang. Taktsang Monastery (Tiger Nest Temple): is Bhutan’s most iconic landmark and religious Buddhist site in the world. The name Taktsang translates to “The Tiger’s Nest”. The temple is one of the holiest sites in Bhutan which clings impossibly to a sheer cliff face 900 meters above the valley. Although good trekkers can make it to the top in two hours, most of the guests take whole day to complete the hike. Overnight in Paro.

26 March: Paro to Phuentsholing (5 hrs drive)

After the breakfast, drive back to Phuentsholing. Phuentsholing is also good for buying inexpensive Bhutanese souvenirs and agro products for your relatives back home. Prepare yourself to exit from Bhutan. Roadside Stops: Leg stretch break for having tea/coffee, using restroom and taking photographs at scenic places like waterfalls, landscapes, and villages. Kharbandi/Rinchending Gompa (based on your interest)- Monastery is built by Royal Grandmother in 1967. It is located on a picturesque hill overlooking the whole Phuentsholing town and beyond Toorsa River far into distant till the sight disappears into a mountain. Morning after breakfast drive to Doodhpathri or “Valley of Milk”, situated 50 kms from Srinagar is definitely an unexplored place in Kashmir. You will definitely meet a sphere who will be keeping a watchful eye on his flock grazing on the verdant meadows and some cattle and horses. On reaching the river, you can soak your feet in the clear and icy water. God, it felt like my feet were frozen and numb for a second. 1st Day – (Friday 14th March) : NJP Railway Station to Siliguri – Pickup
Approx Distance: 15 Km • Est. Travel Time: 40 minutes
Meet and Greet on arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station and transfer to Siliguri (392 Ft.). On arrival, check-in to the hotel and rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Siliguri.

2nd Day – (Saturday 15th March) : Siliguri to Gangtok – Pickup and Halfday Sightseeing
Approx Distance: 125 Km • Est. Travel Time: 8 hours 30 minutes
After breakfast Checkout from the hotel and transfer to Gangtok (5,500 Ft. / 114 Kms. / 4½ Hrs.). On arrival, Check-in to your hotel. Afternoon enjoy Gangtok half day city tour visiting Cottage Industry and Handicraft Centre (Closed on Sunday and 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month), Institute of Tibetology (Closed on Sunday), Dro-dul Chorten & Gonjang Monastery (maximum 3-4 hours). 3rd Day – (Sunday 16th March) : Gangtok to Lachen – Drive with on the way Sightseeing
Approx Distance: 130 Km • Est. Travel Time: 6 hours
After breakfast check out from hotel with limited luggage and proceed to Lachen (8,980 Ft.) in North Sikkim. On the way enjoy some beautiful spots. On arrival at Lachen, check into your hotel. Dinner and Overnight stay at Lachen.

4th Day – (Monday 17th March) : Lachen to Lachung – Transfer With Gurudongmar Lake Excursion
Approx Distance: 120 Km • Est. Travel Time: 10 hours
After Early breakfast proceed to Gurudongmar Lake (17,100 Ft.) enrout visit Thangu Valley (12,795 Ft.) and Gurudongmar Lake is the second highest lake in the World and it will take approx 3-4 hours’ drive from Lachen (One way). The Lake generally is covered with snow from December to April or even more and is known as the Holy / Sacred Lake. Afternoon back to hotel for lunch at Lachen and check out for a 2 hrs. Drive to Lachung (8,738 Ft.). Evening arrival and check-in to the hotel. Dinner and Overnight stay at Lachung.
Note: Due to winter season (heavy snow) vehicle will be able to drive till Snow point on the way to Gurudongmar Lake. After breakfast proceed to Yumthang Valley, which is known as Valley of Flowers (12,000 ft.). Yumthang is the summer grazing ground of the yaks and winter playgrounds of yetis. Back to the hotel in the afternoon. After lunch free for individual activities, Dinner and Overnight stay at Lachung.
Note: Due to winter season (heavy snow) vehicle will be able to drive till Snow point on the way to Yumthang Valley.

6th Day – (Wednesday 19th March) : Lachung to Gangtok – Transfer
Approx Distance: 130 Km • Est. Travel Time: 6 hours
After breakfast, transfer to Gangtok (5,500 Ft.). On arrival, check-in to the hotel and rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

7th Day – (Thursday 20th March) : Gangtok to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir – Excursion
Approx Distance: 120 Km • Est. Travel Time: 8 hours
After breakfast, start for an excursion to Tsomgo Lake (12,400 ft. / 37 Kms. / 02 Hrs. from Gangtok) and further drive to New Baba Mandir (13,200 ft. / 16 Kms. / 01 Hrs. from Tsomgo Lake). Evening back to Gangtok. Overnight stay at Gangtok. Note: In case of Land slide or any other reason Tsomgo Lake is closed we will provided alternate sightseeing.
